At the Almagellerhutte

Today we've hiked up to a hut at 2900m. All went well and everyone coped with the altitude.

The photo below shows the hut and the rock ridge behind we plan to climb tomorrow.

The hut is really well run and most importantly has a bar serving steins of beer although everything arrives by helicopter so they aren't cheap.

There is an etiquette to hut life. Boots and hardware like axes and crampons must be left at the front entrance. The hut is full so let's hope everyone remembers where they left their things and doesn't take the wrong ones!

sleeping arrangements are 'cosy'  with the seven of us sharing bunks with three others including two girls. Hopefully everyone has ear plugs!

Tomorrow we have breakfast booked for 7:30 and we should be out by 8am. Per has warned us we need to be organised and he won't tolerate any 'faffing'. We are going to climb the rock ridge above  the hut. That should get us all back into climbing and start out preparation properly.

Sunday night we will stay at this same hut but have a 4 am start on Monday so we can climb the 4000m Weissmies.
